Ballykelly Primary School, Ballykelly, Limavady

Term 1

18th Dec 2018

Primary 6MF have had a very busy term 1 and have been very lucky to have been on so many fantastic educational trips.

We all had a fantastic time at the Crumlin Road Goal, we were able to learn lots about the history of the jail, all the way back to Victorian times. We learned about how children as young as 5 could be put in prison and how the prison was a ’silent’ prison for many years!

We were also very grateful to Fred from the Limavady Orienteering club. We were able to learn some really useful skills, such as map reading! Fred delivered some training to the children in the school and in our forest. We then took these skills to the competition , where we came 3rd out of all of the Limavady based schools who entered! We also need to say a special       congratulations to Lucy Donaghy and Rioghnach Brolly who completed the course in the fastest time out of all the competitors.

Without a doubt, the best day of term 1 was when we visited the Project Sparks team! The children took part in singing, dancing and drumming workshops. Check out the school Facebook page to see videos of our final performances.
