Welcome

Dear Parents / Guardians

Thank you for taking time to look at our school website. Ballykelly PS is a truly special school which welcomes children of all races, faiths and backgrounds. Not only is the school ethos one of respect, care and inclusivity but this is set against a backdrop of excellent facilities, extensive grounds and a dedicated staff team.

I would describe Ballykelly PS as a naturally integrated school and it is certainly a place where differences are celebrated and all pupils learn together in an inclusive way. The school is set on the most extensive and well-resourced grounds. There is a full time nursery unit on site as well as a canteen where hot meals are prepared and served. In addition to our state of the art canteen we have a large assembly hall with a stage that’s perfect for our legendary Christmas and Summer Productions. The school is fortunate enough to also have large classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards, as well as a library, music room, Nurture Room, computer suite and a very well utilised Family room.

We are one of only a few schools in Northern Ireland to have a Speech and Language unit on site as well as a Speech and Language therapist who delivers interventions and support to all pupils in Nursery, Primary one and Primary two. This is a vital service we offer to our pupils as speech and language is an area where, if supported early, pupils can benefit from. As a result of lockdown there are many pupils with speech and language needs and waiting lists can be long-so for our school to be able to offer this to all of our pupils is very special.

Another unique feature of our school is the large woodland trail to the rear of the school. All children regularly visit this area and have the opportunity to take part in outdoor learning which is vital for their mental health and wellbeing. We also offer a school counselling service to pupils and our school counsellor is available every Friday.

We hope you enjoy our website and find it helpful and informative. If I can be of any help or assistance please do not hesitate to pick up the phone and give me a call. Our office number is 02877762864

Mrs A Willis
