Summer holidays are nearly here!
Our topic this term has been ‘Down in the Woods’ in which we have been learning about signs of Spring, different woodland animals and the life cycles of frogs and butterflies. It was exciting to watch the caterpillars spinning into their cocoons and then hatching into beautiful butterflies. We cared for and fed them until it was time to realise them into our flower beds.
We really enjoyed planting mustard seeds and snap peas, as well as caring for our outdoor areas with our gardener Conor. We had a great final session eating redcurrants and snap peas as well as picking and smelling mint, rosemary and thyme from our herb bed.
It has been a pleasure to have the expertise of Ms. Una for Musical Pathways and Rebecca our Spanish teacher on a weekly basis throughout the year. We can keep a steady beat, identify high and low notes and sing various different songs. We also know how to say hello and goodbye, count to 10 and name colours in Spanish.
We finished off a wonderful year with an exciting school trip to Castlerock beach with our friends in P1 and P2. We built sandcastles, dug holes, buried our feet and played with sand toys before going for lunch. After lunch we played in the playpark and then had tasty ice-cream from Braemar before making our journey home again.
It has been an absolute pleasure teaching P1/2 this year. Mrs Shiels, Ciara, Denise and I would like to thank parents for all their support and kindness throughout the school year. Enjoy the summer holidays.
