Term 1

13th Dec 2019

Wow it's almost the end of term 1 in P2JW and what a busy term it has been!

We all settled in really well in September and it was good to be back with our friends. We started the year talking about ourselves and our families and finding out more about where we live. We had great fun drawing round our friends and labelling our body parts. In Spanish we worked on our numbers to 20, colours as well as saying hello and goodbye. We have now moved on to learning the parts of our faces and the words for happy, sad, ok and angry.

In September we also had our Interactive Whiteboard changed to a new Promethean touchscreen panel. We are really enjoying using it to help us with our lessons. We especially enjoy playing 2 player games now as we can both touch the board without needing the pen each time! Ms Una started to come on a Wednesday to bring us Musical Pathways and we have been learning lots of songs, about rhythm and about finding a steady beat. We love it when she plays the relaxing music and uses her special lights on the ceiling!

October brought lots of excitement with a Halloween disco, Autumn Scavenger Hunt and decorating our Pumpkin. We had lots of fun taking part in each of these! We were also enjoying lots of play in the playroom making playdough, making pictures using temporary art and pretending to be the teacher/ Classroom Helper or a pupil in our Role Play area.

We had a week off and were ready for lots of work when we came back. Some of us began writing our news independently and we were making lots of progress with our sounds and keywords. We were weighing items with the scales and finding out which was heavier and which was lighter. We also began a new theme- 'Toys in the Toybox' and this meant we got to bring our favourite toys into school. We wrote letters to Santa and walked to the Post Office to post them. We can't wait to see if Santa has time to send us a reply!

We began practising for our Christmas Show- 'Children of the World'. Our class were playing children from China and we learnt lots of new things about their Christmas traditions. We did a fabulous job performing our lines, songs and actions for our parents and other children in our school. Mrs Whyte was so proud of all of us! With such a busy term we will be ready for our Christmas holidays and Santa's visit, but not before our Christmas Santa Trail, Mobile cinema and magician visits!

Have a wonderful Christmas and have lots of fun together!
