Term 1

21st Oct 2020

Mrs Whyte is really pleased with how well P2JW have settled back into the busyness of school life. There were lots of different routines to get used to as well as changes to the way activities were carried out. They have been absolute stars and a great help in keeping the classroom, resources and their hands clean and safe!

We have enjoyed watching Mrs Cole on the board for assembly and are always so excited to find out who is the Star Pupil for the week. For Golden Time we have watched movies, had table top play, played outside and Mrs Whyte even made popcorn one week! Ms Una has started our Musical Pathways programme on a Monday and she teaches us lots of rhymes and action songs.

We have spent September and October finding out more about ourselves. We have named different parts of our bodies, talked about our favourite things and explored the different types of houses we live in. In the PLayroom we were able to Role Play in the House and School areas. We have enjoyed running our mile and playing outside as a way to keep fit and healthy. Down in the Fishmongers' Trail we have listened to stories, made faces and 2D shapes with natural materials as well as played 'Hide and Seek' and gathered resources for our art work in the playroom. It has been lots of fun!

In our class we have some new friends who are helping us to learn about our feelings and what it means to be a good friend. They are called Twiggle, Henrietta, Duke and Daphne. We have learned that friends share, friends play and friends help. We have a 'Child of the Day' each day who we give compliments to and who is a helper in the classroom.

We have been counting, writing, ordering and reading numbers up to 30 both forwards and backwards and we have enjoyed using games in Purple Mash and Whack a Mole on our board to help with this. We enjoyed making different types graphs by gathering information about our hair and eye colour as well as who was 5 and who was 6. We have been working on our keywords and sounds and sharing our news each week.

P2JW have had a busy half term and have worked so well. They really deserve their time off!

Have lots of fun boys and girls!
