Term 2 P5

15th Apr 2019

P5 have enjoyed learning about Animation this term. We made our own zoetropes and flip books. We completed a workshop with The Nerve Centre on i-movies and green screens. We had lots of fun making our movie clips. We went to the cinema to see the film, “How to Train your Dragon”. We had a great day out. The film was very exciting and we all enjoyed our popcorn. We then wrote a film review and Mrs McDonald posted our entries. We got an email to say we were first runners up and we received a goody box. Well done P5.

In Numeracy we have been working on measures. We have been learning about length, weight, capacity and temperature. We have enjoyed all the practical work and P5 are very good at estimating what the answer will be. P5 are also working hard on their tables. We are working on saying our tables within one minute and everyone is trying really hard. The X7 and x8 tables are the trickiest but we are all getting there.

In Literacy we have worked on writing reports. We all know how to set a report out and everyone can include their classification sentence and a detailed description.   We have also been learning about synonyms and antonyms and P5 worked in groups to produce their own thesaurus. We are working hard at trying to make our writing more exciting by extending our vocabulary.

This term we also took part in a Spanish assembly. P5 were focusing on items within the classroom and what jobs people would like to do when they leave school. Everyone was very impressed with our Spanish and afterwards P5 invited their parents to lunch and the canteen did a special Spanish lunch which was delicious.

Easter is fast approaching and P5 made Easter cards for their families and we are going on an Easter hunt in the Woodland Trail –let’s hope the Easter Bunny arrives.

From all of P5 have a lovely Easter break.
