Term 3

13th Jun 2024

Our topic this term has been ‘Journeys’ in which we have been learning about different types of vehicles and transport and their jobs.  Pupils have also had the opportunity to look at different countries around the world and learn about popular attractions and sights from each country.  They also loved planning and booking holidays in our role play travel agents.

We have also been learning about Spring and in particular the life cycles of frogs and butterflies.  It was exciting to watch our caterpillars spinning into their cocoons and then hatching into beautiful butterflies.  We cared for and fed them until it was time to realise them into our flower beds.

We really enjoyed planting sunflower seeds and looking after them until it was time to take the sunflowers home and transplant them to bigger pots.  We also planted carrots and cared for our outdoor areas with Mr. Willis.

It has been a pleasure to have the expertise of Ms. Una for Musical Pathways and Rebecca our Spanish teacher on a weekly basis throughout the year.  We can keep a steady beat, identify high and low notes and sing various different songs.  We also know how to say hello and goodbye, count to 10 and name colours in Spanish.

We finished off a wonderful year with an exciting school trip to Sperrin Fun Farm.  We looked at, petted and fed donkeys, ducks, ponies, alpacas, sheep and goats.  Afterwards there was lots of fun on the outdoor slide, playground, soft play and bouncy castles.

It has been an absolute pleasure teaching P1/2 this year.  Mrs Shiels, Lisa, Sharon and I would like to thank parents for all their support and kindness throughout the school year.  Enjoy the summer holidays.
